THE GLOSSARY

What is marketing?

Marketing is everything that makes people know you exist, remember you and pick you over the next name on the list.

Put another way: marketing isn't the bottle. It's the bar. The lab where you mix, taste and work out what the guests keep ordering.

Below are the eight words people nod along to without quite knowing what they mean. Each one gets the straight answer first. The analogy comes after.

THE BUBBLES

What are ads?

Ads are attention you either pay for or earn.

Ads are the bubbles. Without them it's still wine — just not something anyone raises a glass to.

A business without ads still sells. The sales just go flat, quiet and unnoticed, until nobody can remember when it started.

PAID VS. ORGANIC

The only difference you need to remember

Both give you bubbles. They just behave completely differently — and that's not a figure of speech, it's how the two kinds of bubbles are actually made.

PAID

Added carbonation

You turn it up, and the bubbles are there the same afternoon. You turn it down, and they're gone the same evening. You pay for every single bubble, every single day.

  • Works straight away
  • Stops the day you stop
  • Costs money, every time
Pick your ad budget

From $300 80 % goes straight into your ad account — a minimum of $225 goes to setup and management. The account is yours.

ORGANIC

Bottle fermentation

The bubbles form in the bottle over months. You can't rush it. In return the bubbles are finer, and they last for years without you paying for them again.

  • Works after months
  • Keeps going when you stop
  • Costs work, not media
Open the link shop

Links and content are what ferments. It takes time — which is exactly why it's the one thing your competitor can't buy their way out of in an afternoon.

The truth: the best do both. Carbonation now, while the bottle ferments. Paid advertising buys you the time organic needs to start working.

THE COCKTAIL

What is a campaign?

One offer, to one audience, for one fixed period — with a start date and an end date.

The campaign is the cocktail. The bar has the same bottles on the shelf all year. The cocktail is the one on the board this month.

If it has no end date, it's not a campaign. It's just a page sitting there. The end date is half the reason anyone acts.

THE MEDALS

What is link building?

Other websites linking to yours. Google uses links as a signal that someone outside vouches for you.

The medals on the label. You can't print them yourself — they have to be given by someone else. That's exactly what makes them worth something.

And here we say what others don't: we sell a sponsor placement — not a ranking in Google. Nobody can promise rankings. Our bot checks every link for dofollow first; without link value, it comes off the shelf with a reason.
WHAT'S IN THE BOTTLE

What is content?

Everything you publish without asking for anything in return: guides, posts, videos, case studies — answers to the questions your customers actually ask.

Content is what's actually in the bottle. Ads get people to the bar. Content is what they taste — and the whole reason they come back.

Rule of thumb: give four times for every time you ask for something. If every single post is selling, people stop reading them.

GIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEASK

Give four times before you ask for anything.

GLASS HELD OUT

What is a lead?

Someone who has shown interest and given you permission to contact her. Not a customer. Yet.

The guest holding out her glass. She hasn't paid yet — but she's standing at the bar, and she's looking at you.

A lead you're not allowed to contact isn't a lead. That's why consent is part of the product, not a formality you sort out afterwards.

OVER TO THE TABLE

What is a cold call?

You call a business that hasn't asked to hear from you.

Instead of waiting for someone to come to the bar, you walk over to the table with the bottle in your hand.

This is where a lot of people get it wrong

✓
Calls to businesses — legal in Denmark.
✕
Calls to consumers — banned, with few exceptions.
✕
Unsolicited email and SMS — require consent. B2B too. Danish Marketing Practices Act § 10, fine per message.

That's why we don't sell cold email in Denmark — only calls, LinkedIn and permission-based email.

THE HOST REMEMBERS

What is remarketing?

Ads shown only to people who have already been on your site.

The host who remembers what you drank last time and brings the same again, without you having to ask.

The cheapest audience you'll ever buy — they already know you. But it only works if there was a pixel on the page when they were there.

That's why tracking isn't something you add afterwards. It's the first thing that has to be in place — even if it's the last thing anyone finds fun.
YesterdayShe looked at the Basic package
TodayShe sees your ad for the Basic package
TomorrowShe buys

No pixel yesterday: nothing today.

THE SEASON CARD

When do you put a new cocktail on the board?

Not »when you find the time«. When there's an occasion. These are occasions — and they come around every year, whether you're ready or not.

New seasonWhat people need right now anyway
New productThe news — it only works once
Price changeA reason to buy before it takes effect
ReopeningThat you exist, in one more place
Peak seasonThe demand is already there
AnniversaryThe number — 10 years is an offer in itself

Now you know what the words mean.
Shall we mix the first one?

You drop in a link. You get an offer, funnel, copy and tracking back. Nothing goes live until you press the button yourself.
